Qualifications

The Master's program is designed to ensure interdisciplinary qualifications in the field of transportation, thus enabling students to work in a specific position in industry, administration, research institutions, consulting, traffic, transport or logistics companies.

Obtaining general qualifications

In particular, students will gain the following general qualifications:

  • The ability to recognize the technical problems and tasks in their complexity.
  • The ability to independently familiarize oneself with new areas and methods in the chosen field and its neighboring fields.
  • The ability to act creatively, e.g. to develop novel insights, methods and solutions to existing problems.
  • The ability to take into account the subject-specific and social consequences of their actions.
  • The ability and willingness to cooperate, even beyond disciplinary boundaries.
  • The ability to weigh up different solutions, to explain them in a factual and comprehensible manner, to make decisions and to justify them.

Obtaining subject-specific qualifications

Students will acquire the following subject-specific qualifications:

  • The ability to assess the diverse demands on the transport structure in quantitative and qualitative terms and to prepare planning documents for further developments of transport systems.
  • The ability to assess the economic and environmental impact of the transportation structure and the suitability of various modes of transportation for specific tasks.
  • The ability to plan, evaluate, design, dimension, construct, operate and maintain means of transport, transport routes and transport hubs according to technical, economic and environmental aspects on the basis of existing and future conditions.
  • The ability to take a holistic view on the flow of materials and goods, caused by storing, handling, transporting, packing, signing and the processing of orders on the basis of an intra- and inter-organizational approach.
  • Knowledge of instrumental and organizational consequences of various logistics conceptions, the ability to solve logistics-specific problems of strategic planning, controlling and the organizational integration of logistics into a company.
  • Knowledge of the forms of different transport companie types as well as their decision-making environment due to the requirements of the transport demanders and the legal and political framework conditions.
  • The ability to assess the complex interrelationships of a technical, political, legal, flight operations and, in particular, economic nature of civil aviation on a national and international level.
