Application and admission

Below, you will find a structured overview of the admission requirements as well as the application process for the Master's program in Traffic and Transport.

Overview

Before starting the program, the prospective student must have a Bachelor's degree in economics, civil engineering, mechanical engineering or a comparable degree.

Admission requirement is a degree according to the study requirements of the study regulations of the Master's program Traffic and Transport, which should prove at least 12 credits (credit points oriented to the European Credit Transfer System ECTS) from traffic-related courses. The Dean of Studies of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering decides on the recognition of the Bachelor's degree as well as on the recognition of achievements in individual subjects, if necessary in coordination with the other departments involved in this Master's program. The recognition can be linked with conditions in form of additional achievements which ensure the required qualification for the Master's program.

In individual cases, an individual study course may be established for the applicant by the Dean of Studies, in which additional professional qualifications are required and/or exemptions from coursework are specified.

Internship

An internship is not explicitly required as an entrance requirement. However, a minimum eight-week, forty-day subject-related internship in accordance with the internship regulations of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering for the Master's program in Traffic and Transport must be presented no later than at the time of registration for the Master's thesis. Work experience is not an admission requirement.

This can be done during the course of study, but also before the course of study.

Recognition is granted by theInternship Office of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering after reviewing the relevant documents (certificate with contents, duration, location of the internship).

The Master's program in Traffic and Transport can be started in the winter semester as well as in the summer semester.

In principle, applicants with international educational qualifications are required to pass the German Language Test for University Admission of Foreign Study Applicants (DSH2) or a comparable examination.

Study or examination achievements made at other universities or in other study courses can be recognized if they are not part of a previous degree. The examination board (usually represented by the dean of studies) decides on the recognition together with the lecturer of the module concerned. Recognition can take place with or without a grade. The recognition form is available at the examination office and on the internet.
